Project Details

During the early discovery phase, the team learnt that accountants in the advisory space were largely dissatisfied with existing forecasting products on the market. Common complaints included a steep learning curve, time-consuming forecast creation (taking days or even weeks), and underwhelming output quality. As customer demand for a forecasting feature increased, not having it was set to become a competitive disadvantage for Fathom. I joined Fathom following initial research, discovery, and information architecture stages, to form a close-knit design team of three. Our goal was fleshing out features, design QA, conducting user research and refining based on customer insights to deliver a best-in-class forecasting feature.

Things I Did

Building out features: Working on quick metrics, microforecast wizards, timing profiles, and settings pages to name a few.

Education/delight: Contributing to in-product education through producing videos and creating engaging illustrated and animated empty states.

Driving design quality: Standardising headers and panels, and conducting extensive design quality assurance across the entire feature set.

Customer research: Actively participating in user research sessions and utilising insights to continuously improve the product.

Marketing assistance: Creating mid-fi product images for promotional animations and blog visuals.
